Tunable skyrmion–edge interaction in magnetic multilayers by interlayer exchange coupling

چکیده

Magnetic skyrmions are appealing for applications in emerging topological spintronic devices. However, when magnetic a nanowire driven by an in-plane current, transverse Magnus force deflects their trajectories from the current direction, which tends to push skyrmion toward edge. If density is exceedingly large, will be annihilated around edge, leading greatly reduced propagation distance and maximum speed of skyrmion, detrimental skyrmion-based applications. Here, we prepare multilayer Ta/[Pt/Co] 3 /Ru/[Co/Pt] tailor interlayer exchange coupling strength varying thickness Ru layer. Based on magneto-optic Kerr effect microscope, find that skyrmion–edge interaction tunable strength, namely, repulsive potential film edge tailored strength. Our results unveil significant role dynamics.

Exchange Coupling in Magnetic Multilayers

In magnetic multilayers, the magnetizations of two ferromagnetic layers separated by a non-magnetic spacer layer are coupled by the electrons in the spacer layer. This coupling oscillates in sign as a function of the thickness of the spacer layer. Extensive research done on these systems has led to a simple model for this coupling and remarkable agreement between predictions of the model and me...

Interlayer exchange coupling in (Ga,Mn)As based multilayers

The exciting new prospect of spin based electronics, known as spintronics, was initiated in 1988 with the discovery of giant magnetoresistance (GMR) in metallic multilayer structures [1, 2]. These structures consist of interposed ferromagnetic (FM) and non-FM layers. When adjacent FM layers are aligned in antiparallel directions, enhanced spin scattering of carriers causes an increased electric...

Interlayer Exchange Coupling in Semiconductor EuS–PbS Ferromagnetic Wedge Multilayers

Antiferromagnetic interlayer coupling between ferromagnetic layers of EuS via nonmagnetic PbS spacer layer was experimentally studied in EuS– PbS wedge multilayers grown on KCl (001) substrates with EuS thickness of 6 nm and PbS thickness varying in the wedges in the range 0.3–6 nm (i.e. n = 1−20 monolayers). Measurements of magnetic hysteresis loops of EuS–PbS multilayers performed in the temp...

Theory of interlayer exchange interactions in magnetic multilayers

This paper presents a review of the phenomenon of interlayer exchange coupling in magnetic multilayers. The emphasis is put on a pedagogical presentation of the mechanism of the phenomenon, which has been successfully explained in terms of a spin-dependent quantum confinement effect. The theoretical predictions are discussed in connection with corresponding experimental investigations.

The combined effect of temperature and disorder on interlayer exchange coupling in magnetic multilayers

We study the combined effect of temperature and disorder in the spacer on the interlayer exchange coupling. The temperature dependence is treated on ab initio level. We employ the spin-polarized surface Green function technique within the tight-binding linear muffin-tin orbital method and the Lloyd formulation of the IEC. The integrals involving the Fermi-Dirac distribution are calculated using...
